i feel like i was able to really feel your rage and fear in your writing. your writing style is amazing!! besides that this piece is so necessary. Rage is so necessary. i feel reminded of when Audre Lorde said “what’s you hear in my voice is fury not suffering “. i really enjoyed reading this

Powerful piece. I appreciate your repetition that monetary settlements aren't enough-- def needs to be talked about more tbh. Maybe in another essay of yours...? 👀

i think reading this tapped into a similar (lightskin 💀) rage that ive been trying to manage since ive watched nationally covered police murders from a tiny ass age, and its validating asl knowing it can be used for good like ive been watching yall do south of the border where it seems so much scarier. this clarified a lot for me, thx gang

The rage and fear you described are so beyond real to me. Growing up with black nationalists I still never fully developed the realization of how otherized I was as a black person, up until 2020. When I saw the video of Ahmad Aubry I felt like none of my white friends cared that the world was falling apart. Elijah McClain solidified that fear with his words, and hearing my white friends condemn riots over killings destroyed any patience I had in white America. My parents always told me "when you wake up, everything makes you mad. You either go back to sleep or do something." That rage is still alive in me, and keeps growing seeing how my people are vehemently villianized. Very real essay, keep it up 🙏🏿

The examples you used of your grandfather and father were very illustrative. I come from your youtube channel and this is the first piece I've read of yours and I am looking forward to reading ones you've published before.
